Oh snap!

Dr. Phillip Butler, who went to U.S. Naval Academy with John McCain, and who was also taken as a PoW during the Vietnam War (he was a PoW for longer than two years than McCain*), has written an editorial for Military.com (via Digby) entitled “Why I Will Not Vote For John McCain.”

Clearly he missed the memo about nobody being allowed to say** anything not-positive about John McCain because he was a PoW.

I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate.

Have you no shame, Dr. Butler? How dare you dismiss John “hero” McCain’s service like that? Have you no shame at all, sir? </eyeroll>

I can’t wait to see the MSM start hyperventilating and reaching for the smelling salts. I can’t wait for Wes Clark to weigh in either.

*I believe this means that Phillip Buttler is roughly speaking 50% better qualified for anything than McCain. As a Corollary, it is roughly 50% less likely that Phillip Buttler would cheat (see MadLibs post), compared to McCain.

**This rule doesn’t apply to current Strategerist-in-Chief GWB, of course. It was his prerogative to push-poll McCain to his heart’s contempt.
